Meet Shara

Shara is a licensed professional counselor serving clients in Tennessee and Virginia. She holds a B.S. in Special Education and Elementary Education from Middle Tennessee State University and a M.A.Ed. in Counselor Education from Virginia Tech. Her background includes extensive experience in the public school system, where she worked as a special education teacher, general education teacher, advanced academic teacher, and high school counselor. This experience shapes her grounded, relational approach and deep understanding of the challenges individuals and families face.

Shara is especially attuned to the needs of teens, young adults, and parents, particularly during major life transitions such as adolescence and early adulthood. She helps clients navigate questions of personal and professional identity, purpose, and connection, offering insight into the emotional and relational complexities that arise during these stages.

Her personal experiences with loss, both of loved ones and expected life paths, inform her compassionate perspective. She understands the quiet grief and resilience many people carry and brings sensitivity to the uncertainties of life and relationships, including dating and the desire for meaningful connection.

In her work, Shara creates a warm, collaborative space and integrates attachment-based therapy, trauma-informed care, mind-body awareness, and evidence-based practices. She works with individuals, couples, and teens, with a particular focus on supporting single adults, couples, and adult children navigating relationships with their parents.

Outside of therapy, Shara enjoys aerial silks, singing, dancing, and spending time with her family and close community of friends.
